Writing Station

writing checklist  writing center

In my classroom I have created a writing station that it is set up all year long.  We use the Step up to Writing program so you’ll see in the picture that I have included the reminders for each step on the stop sign.  Then I have 3 checklists that are removable from the board.  Each checklist is laminated.  I punched a hole through the top and used a notecard ring to bind them together.

Monster Bulletin Board

Written by The Resourceful Teacher. Posted in Bulletin Boards

I created these monsters with my students.  I got the idea from this great blog.

She spray painted her tissue boxes, but I wrapped mine with wrapping paper and cut out the paper where the hole was.  She also used hers at "tattle monsters" but I had each of my students create a monster and then write a story about him/her.  The kids LOVED this project from start to finish.  They were even done in time to display at Open House.

Verbs Bulletin Board

Written by The Resourceful Teacher. Posted in Bulletin Boards

Here's a bulletin board I created about helping, linking, and action verbs. I used samples straight from my students.  I broke them up into 3 large groups, and they had to come up with 5 samples using each of the 3 different kinds of sentences.  Then I created my bulletin board using some of the sentences they created.

Comparing Fractions Bulletin Board

Written by The Resourceful Teacher. Posted in Bulletin Boards

Here's a bulletin board I created about comparing fractions.  I broke my students up into 6 groups and gave each group a different color of sentence strips (for example, group 1 received all yellow, group 2 received all pink, etc.).  Their job was to fold each of their sentence strips into halves, thirds, fourths, fifths, sixths, and eighths.  Then I collected one sentence strip from each group to display and the picture above shows the final result.
